Es gilt dabei, die unterschiedlichen Entstehungsumstände der Fälle, das Erkennen und Reagieren auf jeweilige Unsicherheiten und die Auswirkungen auf die Öffentlichkeit herauszuarbeiten. Um die examine der Fallbeispiele zu erleichtern, sollen zu Beginn der vorliegenden Arbeit zunächst jedoch einführende Vorbemerkungen zum Phänomen des Nichtwissens und Grundlagen, Abgrenzungen und zentrale Fragestellungen einer Soziologie des wissenschaftlichen Nichtwissens vorangestellt werden. Auf die analysierten Fälle aus der Umwelt – oder Chemiepolitik folgen Gedanken über den angemessenen Umgang mit der Problematik. An dieser Stelle werden einzelne Vergleichspunkte aus den Fallbeispielen erneut aufgegriffen, wobei auch allgemeine Reflexionen zum Umgang mit der Nichtwissensproblematik angeführt werden.
